These Terms explain the simple rules for using FontLark and the fonts available through the catalog.

Effective date: September 5, 2026

Using FontLark

FontLark is a free service for discovering, previewing, and downloading open-license fonts. By using the website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the site.

We may improve, change, temporarily suspend, or remove parts of the service when needed. We may also withdraw a font while its source, files, or licensing information is being reviewed.

The font license is what matters

FontLark does not own the third-party fonts in the catalog and does not sell or transfer ownership of them. Each font remains the property of its identified designer, foundry, or other rights holder and is governed by the complete license supplied with that family.

The hosted catalog is currently limited to fonts recorded under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, Apache License 2.0, or Ubuntu Font License 1.0. We keep the supplied license material with the download and provide source and copyright details on the font page.

License summaries and badges are helpful guides, but the complete license controls if anything differs. Before using or redistributing a font, especially after modifying it, review the included license for requirements involving notices, attribution, Reserved Font Names, modified files, or trademarks. FontLark provides catalog information, not legal advice or additional permission from a rights holder.

Catalog and preview information

We use source records, file hashes, font inspection, and license checks to reduce mistakes. Automated information about styles, characters, scripts, and likely language support can still be incomplete. Character coverage does not guarantee correct shaping or suitability for every language or project, and preview rendering can differ between browsers and design software. Please test a font in your own workflow before relying on it.

Fair use of the website

Please do not attack or disrupt FontLark, introduce malicious code, bypass download or rate-limit controls, attempt to reach private storage, use excessive automated requests, misrepresent your identity or authority, or use the site in a way that infringes another person’s rights or breaks applicable law.

Names, trademarks, and collections

Font names, designer and foundry names, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners. We use names to identify and describe fonts, not to suggest sponsorship, endorsement, or partnership. Collection names describe a style, mood, genre, medium, or possible use; they do not claim that a font is used by, endorsed by, or identical to the branding of another company or product.

FontLark’s own name, site design, original writing, and software are separate from the third-party font licenses and remain protected by their applicable rights.

Downloads and outside websites

Download requests use short-lived security tokens and rate limits. Please do not bypass those controls. Package checksums help identify the cataloged file but cannot guarantee compatibility or suitability for a particular project, so keep backups and test downloads before production use.

Links to repositories, designers, foundries, or license websites are provided as references. Those websites are operated independently and may change after we link to them.

If something is wrong

If you find incorrect attribution, licensing information, or material that should not be hosted, please use our Copyright & Takedown Policy. We can disable a download while credible information is reviewed and will correct or remove material when appropriate.

Reasonable limitations

FontLark is provided in good faith on an “as available” basis. We cannot promise that every catalog detail is error-free, that every font works in every environment, or that the website will always be available without interruption.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, FontLark and its operator are not responsible for indirect or consequential loss resulting from use of the website, a font, a download, or an outside source. Nothing in these Terms removes rights or protections that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.

Privacy and changes

Our Privacy Policy explains the limited information used to operate the site. We may update these Terms when FontLark or its practices change. The effective date above will show when the latest version took effect.
